INTRODUCTION

It is imperative to share our gratitude with you all for 31st May 2017, the Presence of Rev. Fr. Provincial Fr. Joy Kolengaden CMI, Fr. Joy Chirayath CMI, Fr. Johnson Valiyakulathil CMI and Fr Mathew Thomas Kodappannamkunnel CMI. The decision and implementation of our exercise was paved way from the home based survey done by our site staffs, so it was the beneficiaries felt need.

Most of our beneficiaries hales from rural areas a few are from town, therefore some faces challenges Such as water shortage and rationing, Electricity power installation and Lack of warming and cooking fuel in form of firewood and charcoal. It is from this that the site came to a consensus to provide the most newly enrolled children/parents from Mwichuiri, sweetwater and Town areas with ,Tanks, Solar lights and Energy savings jikos.

SOLAR LIGHTS BENEFICIARIES

It was discovered that some of the children do not study or complete the assignment due to lack of adequate domestic light, also the harmful smoke from the kerosene lamp affect some. To some families they often lack money to purchase the commodity, Parents send their children far to seek for their phone charging at a cost. All in all we managed to provide 125 solar lights to some number of families. the solar kit consist of three packages, kitchen, table room and one for the children studies. We are thankful to God that these families are benefited out of it. We do hope that the cost of kerosene and phone charging will be waved besides reducing at 0% kerosene smoke.

STORAGE WATER TANKS

Due to the area water shortage, rationing and long dry spell, The parents requested for water storage tanks, this shall be storing water especially during water rationing, Safe time and long walk in such of water from rivers and dams, facility for treating water so as to be getting clean and safe water. A total of 100 parents received a 210ltrs water tanks. The area benefitted with the tanks are; Mwichuiri unity, Town groups and Katheri groups.

ENERGY SAVING JIKO

Lack of Trees and forest as well as government prohibiting charcoal burning, both rural and urban site beneficiaries experience great challenge as far as fuel is concerned. They walk long distance to fetch firewood, charcoal is too dear for these parents so they requested for the energy saving jiko. With the facility, parents shall save time looking for firewood, reduce cost of charcoal since the jiko uses less charcoal and also reduces carbon dioxide, last but not the least it make the kitchen neat. A total of 60 parents jubilated for these item. Sweet water group, mwichuiri groups and Town groups were beneficiaries.

ORIENTATION

Before distributing the items, all beneficiaries were equipped with knowledge from how to use and maintain them. This was done by the manufacture agents and the site staff. Both jikos and solar lights were provided a one year guarantee. A total of 286 beneficiaries were equipped with the skill to use them.

RECOMMENDATIONS

It was jubilation from the parents as they were receiving the items, happy faces could be witnessed as songs from women could be heard, Lots of blessings and gratitude’s. They heartedly thanked the donors, sponsors and the entire Baraka site fraternities.

In Baraka Site, Chalice offers family renewal programs at Naromoru. In Naromoru, this centre is known as Chavara Renewal Centre (Carmel Garden) . Here we concentrate the  sacramental life of the family members; especially the Eucharist, Catholic Marriage and their communal life in the Church. It offers talks on how to live better their Catholic faith in their marriage, how to build a strong Christian family and teach the faith to their children. Fr. Joy Chirayath, CMI leads the main sessions here. This renewal program includes talks, prayer sessions (praise and worship) and the Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament. It also aims at healing and deliverance of the individual Christian. This program offers one day session (on every second Saturdays) and the three days (begins on every second Sundays) residential renewal programs . Many people come here and experience God and renew their life as well as their families.                 ...

FAMILY VISIT IN GACHAGI VILLAGE, NANYUKI

Baraka staff members visited the family of one of our sponsored children today. As we live in a comfort zone, it was so painful for us to see them staying with the domestic animals (dogs, goose & chicken) in a slum-like place. We greeted them, spent time with them and distributed food materials to the family. They were so happy to see us together with the family members. We pray that may the good God give us and the people around us the strength and the generous heart to help the needy. Let us share the message of Christ through service. COUNT THE BLESSINGS WE ENJOY                  AND BE THANKFUL TO GOD AND THE BENEFACTORS!

Nutrition Training
