REGIONAL DIRECTOR, MS. ROSEMARY MBOGO & MS. MARTHA GITAU, THE EAST AFRICAN COORDINATOR VISIT BARAKA ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2017

Baraka Community Care Center, Nanyuki was blessed with the presence of our new Regional Director for the African countries, Ms. Rosemary Mbogo and the East-African Co-ordinator, Ms. Martha Gitau on 11th September 2017. They were here for almost three days for an official visit to our site; to visit the schools and families; to see the activities of this site. They reached here in the mid-noon. As the community gathering was going on, they were officially welcomed by Fr. Jose Martin CMI, the Site-Director. They had an official interaction with the people. Ms. Martha joined the group and discussed a lot about the micro-financing and gave necessary clarifications. They visited Carmel Garden where the Carmelite priests (CMI) stay, and Chavara Renewal Center at Naromoru. They walked around the campus and enjoyed the Baraka activities there; especially, the Green House, the shamba, the bore-hole, the cattle and the fish ponds. They also visited the river though it was drizzling. They had an opportunity to visit Tigithi Primary School and the teacher-in-charge of the sponsored children was very happy of the visit. She was very happy in sharing the good experiences they had with Baraka. She thanked them for feeding the children whenever they requested. After the lunch, they visited Gitero Primary School. The Head Teacher was very glad to welcome them and to share the mission done by Chalice through Baraka. He says, "Baraka was a great support in sponsoring the children, school feeding, supplying Gikos, plastering the classes, building pit latrines and making the school farms." After coming back to the office, they introduced themselves to the staff and shared their personal experience of Chalice. 

The second day, they came to the Baraka office and gone for a visit in Muthaiga Primary School, Nanyuki. The Head Teacher shared the how Baraka was supporting the school. Though it was raining, they visited four families and listened to their successful stories. They visited their shambas, fish ponds and the kukus.

On the third day, they were interacting with the community group members and discussing on micro-financing. Before leaving the office, they had an interaction with the staff, shared their views. Ms. Rosemary stressed ‘the team work of Baraka’ and its leadership and she wished us to continue the same. Ms. Martha was also impressed by the activities done by Baraka.


Finally, Ms. Rosemary prayed for our site, thanked God for the wonderful services that are rendered through our humble lives. With a heart full of joys, they left Baraka on 13th September 2017.

Under the leadership of Baraka Social workers, the parents of the sponsored children often gather together, collect certain amount of money, keep the proper account of it, put the money as savings in their particular name and even they take loan out of it for their businesses and respective needs. Baraka teaches the parents how to save money for the future use.
